Sprawl
Fifteen artist were given scaffolding to create an interactive structure inside a venue at Brickell City Center. Given its location we wanted to highlight the workers who build these magnificent buildings that adorn the Miami skyline. Having installed marble and tile inside BBC with his father and brother, Oscar wanted to convey a familiar dilemma that most blue collard workers face, that while they pour their hard labor into these structure they will likely never enjoy them.
Patrons climb a set of stairs to view streams of black and white threads seeming to burst from the pipes above that fall into pits of rice and beans. They are welcomed to step inside and indulge themselves into this highly sensory pools that mimic salt baths.
